The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) came into effect in Europe today, 25 May 2018. It brings with it enhanced data subjects rights and greater obligations on controllers or processors of personal data, together the potential for significant administrative fines in the event of non-compliance.
