Philip Gray

Profile

Philip is a Trainee Solicitor currently working in the corporate and commercial department of Flynn O’Driscoll. Philip joined the firm in March 2018 having completed all eight FE1’s. Since joining the firm, Philip has been involved in a consistent flow of M&A transactions and has also advised both Irish and international clients on a diverse range of commercial issues including private equity investments, contract disputes, banking matters and company secretarial support.

Philip studied law in Dublin City University (BCL), graduating with honours in 2014. Philip went on to obtain an LL.M. in International Commercial Law from the Sutherland School of Law, UCD in 2015 where he focused primarily on advanced commercial transactions, corporate governance, white collar crime, media regulation and European competition law.

In 2017 Philip obtained a certificate in competition/anti-trust law from Ludwig Maximilians Universität Munich, an area of law which he holds a keen interest in and one which he has authored on in the past. Philip is also a member of the Irish Society of European Law (ISEL) and the European Law Students Association (ELSA).

Prior to joining Flynn O’Driscoll, Philip gained valuable experience as a Pre-Trainee Solicitor in Irish law firm Philip Lee, completing rotations in the commercial litigation, corporate, tax and banking departments. Notably, Philip was a member of the legal team which acted on behalf of the Data Protection Commissioner in their High Court action against Facebook in 2016.

Philip has a significant interest in the sports industry and has written frequently on issues of sports law including concussion, freedom of movement, fair competition and ambush marketing at sporting events.

Philip will be attending the Law Society Professional Practice Course in September 2018.
